Mini-CEX

Mini-CEX (mini-clinical examination) is essentially a way to spot check certain skills you want to improve. Rather than having someone observe you perform a full H&P, you could, for example, decide to have an attending or resident observe you perform the cardiovascular exam. The form is flexible and can accommodate assessment of history-taking skills, focused physical examination, communication skills, or presentation skills. It is a simple form to give a supervisor so you can get immediate, written feedback and document skills that may not always be directly observed. This is particularly useful if you are frustrated that you are not getting enough specific day-to-day feedback. These forms may also be used to meet you requirement to be observed performing a cardiovascular and pulmonary exam.

Evaluation criteria: See mini-CEX forms which you may scan or briefly summarize the feedback. (Presentation, History & PE)
