Referrals to the Autoimmune Disease Center
Anyone with signs or symptoms of lupus, Sjögren’s syndrome, systemic sclerosis (scleroderma), polymyositis, dermatomyositis, mixed connective tissue disease, Raynaud’s phenomenom, Wegner’s granulomatosis, or rheumatoid arthritis may be evaluated in the Center. We require that your physician refer you to the clinic, since he or she can often provide helpful information about your past medical history.


Faculty and Staff
A rheumatologist with particular expertise in the management of autoimmune diseases will evaluate you in consultation with other experts from rheumatology, nephrology, ophthalmologic, dermatology, pulmonary medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and oral medicine. The Center’s medical staff is assisted by support staff with particular experience and interest in managing autoimmune disease.

To make an appointment, your physician should call Ms. Sylvia McLeran at (352) 273-5340. She will assist them with this process. You may also use or Toll-free number at (800) 749-7424. Request the Division of Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology and ask to speak with Ms. McLeran.

Clinic Location, Parking and Maps
The Autoimmune Disease Clinic is located on the first floor of Shands in an area called “Internal Medicine and Medical Specialties Clinic”.


Wheel chair check-out and reservations are available at the Welcome Center East (352) 265-0680 and Welcome Center West (352)265-0005.


Patient parking is located in the East Parking Garage and the West Parking Garage. Daily parking fee is $3.00 weekdays. Valet parking (in the front circle) is $5.00. Vehicles with state issued handicapped parking permits have access to free parking spaces located in the parking lots next to the West Entrance.
