Clinical Activities
The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is active in a variety of clinical activities by providing evaluation and management of the spectrum of endocrinological and medical disorders including but not limited to: adrenal disorders, diabetes and related complications, diseases and disorders of the thyroid, evaluation and management of thyroid nodules and tumors, gynecomastia, lipid disorders, osteoporosis, parathyroid and calcium disorders, pituitary disease. Out-Patient Clinics
Diabetes Center of Excellence
Patients may be seen Monday through Friday in the Internal Medicine and Medical Specialties (IMMS) clinic located in the Shands Medical Plaza Building.
The Medical Plaza Building is located just west of Shands Hospital, between the “West” parking garage and the UF Shands Cancer Center, at 2000 SW Archer Road (3rd floor), Gainesville. Neurosurgical Specialties
Patients with pituitary disease may be seen on Friday’s in the Pituitary Endocrine Clinic which is located at the Neurosurgical Specialties Clinic in the old DP1 location, just beside the outpatient lab off the Shands atrium, 1600 SW Archer Road, Gainesville. Patient parking is available for $3 per day or valet parking for $5 per day at both of these clinics.
Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC), Gainesville
General Endocrine clinics are held on Monday and Tuesday mornings at the VAMC under the supervision of Dr. Suzanne Quinn and Dr. Paola Natale. The Diabetes clinics are Friday mornings and afternoons. There is a Thyroid Nodule/Cancer clinic on Tuesday afternoons as well. There are daily classes on use of the glucose monitor as well as classes in nutrition and Diabetes management. In addition to the Diabetic Limb Preservation Clinic there are two podiatrists who see our diabetic patients (as well as others) with a variety of foot problems. All in all, the VAMC Endocrine Division provides services for patients with lipid disorders, diabetes, thyroid disease, parathyroid disease, adrenal disorders, osteoporosis and pituitary disease, etc. As a regional referral center, the VAMC treats a wide variety of interesting rare and common endocrine problems.
