Dr. Markham is a hematologist-oncologist with a focus on lymphoproliferative disorders -- including non-Hodgkin’s and Hodgkins lymphoma – and gynecologic malignancies. She serves as the co-founder and medical director of the adult Cancer Survivor Program at the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center. She is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as board certified in both hematology and oncology. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Society of Hematology (ASH), and the American College of Physicians (ACP).

Academic Interests:

Dr. Markham focuses her clinical expertise and investigations on patients with lymphoproliferative disorders – including non-Hodgkin’s and Hodgkins lymphoma – as well as gynecologic malignancies. In addition, Dr. Markham is the co-founder and medical director of the adult Cancer Survivor Program and Clinic at the University of Florida.  This clinic deals with the long term needs of cancer survivors and serves as a state of the art facility providing life-long care of the cancer survivor.  In addition to providing long term service for our patients, the clinic has and will continue to be a repository of data concerning cancer survivorship that forms the basis of research projects focused on the prevalence and management of a host of globally understudied social and medical issues that face cancer survivors. Dr. Markham serves as an educator and mentor for medical students, residents, and fellows in the Department of Medicine.

Research Interests:

Cancer Survivorship
Dr. Markham’s research interests are focused on the long-term needs of cancer survivors and the late sequelae of cancer therapy. Through collaborations with faculty from a variety of disciplines (including pediatric oncology, clinical psychology, social work, and epidemiology and health policy) she is involved in studies on quality of life, late effects, and interventions designed to improve care for survivors of all ages.

Quality of Cancer Care
Dr. Markham is the institutional Principal Investigator for the Moffitt-based project, Total Cancer Care: Florida Initiative for Quality Cancer Care, designed to study quality of care indicators and assess the quality of cancer care at the University of Florida as well as other Florida cancer treatment facilities.
