Division of Internal Medicine
Message from the Division Chief
Aida C. Vega, M.D., Interim
The Division of Internal Medicine is a 29 faculty member division dedicated to education of medical students, housestaff, and excellence in clinical care. Faculty participate in several undergraduate medical courses and occupy leadership roles as clerkship director, course directors, and key College of Medicine committee members. These courses include the two year continuum of Essentials of Patient Care - a course focused on communication skills, history and physical examination skills and Evidence Based Medicine.
Our clinical commitment is in both the outpatient and inpatient settings.
Our outpatient clinics are: Internal Medicine @ Medical Plaza and Internal Medicine @ Tower Hill. Click here for more information about our clinics.
In the outpatient setting we provide continuity primary care for patients of North Central Florida. We treat a wide variety of adult related diseases including hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, hyperlipidemia, arthritis, osteoporosis, depression, to give a few examples. We also assess for disease prevention and stress health promotion. We staff an outpatient consultation clinic which focuses on preoperative assessment of the patient scheduled for surgery.
We are excited about our growing and dynamic division - meeting many of the challenges of modern day medicine.
