Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency
Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1) is the most common inherited cause of COPD affecting 1 in every 10 individual with COPD. Alpha-1 can lead to lung destruction and liver diseases, like, cirrhosis and hepatoma. Some of the most common Alpha-1 symptoms are shortness of breath, wheezing, recurring chest colds, chronic cough and sputum production. Alpha-1 can be detected by a simple blood test through free testing program sponsored by The Alpha One Foundation. For more details on this, contact 1800-559-570.
