Chief Residents
Welcome from the Chief Residents! We are delighted that you are interested in our Residency Program. We are very proud of our housestaff as we feel the training offered at the University of Florida is truly outstanding. The strengths of our program lie first in the excellent quality of our residents. Their excellence is cultivated by our outstanding, world-renowned faculty, diverse patient base, and access to cutting edge research and technology. Our extensive educational activities are reflected in the continued post-graduate success of our residents in wide ranging fields including all the subspecialties, primary care, and clinical research.
Our
mission as Chief Residents is to provide an environment in which
new doctors realize their potential as successful physician
scholars. We are always looking for ways to expand the excellent
tradition of education at the University of Florida. Several
years ago, the Housestaff Advisory Committee was established to
provide a voice for the residents. Recommendations from this
committee have led to increased teaching on rounds,
restructuring of the inpatient services, and changes in our
conference content and schedules. The Department Chair and
Program Director have been instrumental in supporting our
housestaff, and they make it a priority to maintain constant
lines of communication so that our issues can be addressed and
remedied in a timely fashion.
One of the greatest strengths of our program is our sense community. Events such as our semiannual Picnic and Field Day, annual Holiday Party, and End-of-the-Year Banquet help bring us together outside of the hospital. We invite you to visit Gainesville to experience the camaraderie among our residents and witness the learning atmosphere that we feel makes the University of Florida a unique, exciting, and rewarding place to train in internal medicine.
